ELECTROFORMING

ELECTROFORMING

Electroforming is a technique that has been used by TOUS for more than 20 years, the result of a large investment into innovative new technologies. It allows for the creation of larger, lightweight, quality pieces without the need for soldering. Via a chemical electrolysis process, precious metal particles are deposited onto a base, which is removed once the piece of jewellery is complete – always using 18k gold or sterling silver – to create designs from 180 microns thick in gold and 300 microns in silver.
STAMPING
STAMPING
Jewelry stamping is done using a tool called a die, featuring an exact, shape or silhouette which is pressed down onto thin sheets of metal. This creates collection such as Tartán or Rupp.

CASTING

CASTING

Microcasting is the method most often used in TOUS’ workshops and in the jewelry industry in general. Liquid wax is injected into a rubber mold and, once cold, it is covered with plaster. The plaster casting is placed in a centrifuge, where the wax is replaced by metal that is injected, producing the desired model in the metal used, usually gold or silver.
