TOPAZ

Belonging to the garnet group, it has an intense green transparent color. It was first found in the Tsavo National Park in Kenya in 1974, where it got its name from. Its use in jewelry-making is fairly recent, but its great beauty has made it one of the most coveted gemstones.

Its name comes from the original name for St. John’s Island in the Red Sea, according to Pliny the Elder. In 1964, in Ukraine, several blue topaz pieces weighing roughly 100 kg each were found.
